ReadAny

Privacy Policy

ReadAny is designed as a local-first reader. Your books, notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress, and settings stay on your device by default.

Last updated: May 30, 2026

1. Information We Process

ReadAny may process the books you import, reading progress, highlights, annotations, bookmarks, notes, app settings, reading statistics, and optional AI or sync configuration you choose to set up.

These items are primarily stored locally on your device. We do not operate a default cloud library that automatically uploads your reading content to ReadAny servers.

2. Local Storage

Imported books and reading data are stored on your device so the app can provide offline reading, annotation, search, statistics, and playback features. Deleting the app or clearing local app data may remove this locally stored content, depending on your platform.

3. Sync Services You Configure

If you enable WebDAV, S3, LAN sync, or another supported sync option, ReadAny sends the selected library data to the service and account you configure. We do not control those third-party or self-hosted services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies and your own server settings.

4. AI, Translation, Embeddings, and TTS Providers

ReadAny lets you configure external AI, translation, embedding, and text-to-speech providers. When you use those features, selected text, prompts, book context, generated content, or audio requests may be sent to the provider you choose, such as an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, Gemini, Claude, Ollama, DeepSeek, Edge TTS, or another configured service.

You are responsible for reviewing the privacy policy and data handling terms of each provider you connect. You can avoid sending content to external providers by not enabling those integrations.

5. Diagnostics and Support

ReadAny does not require you to create an account for local reading. If you contact us through GitHub Issues, email, community channels, or other support paths, we may receive the information you decide to share, such as logs, screenshots, device information, or a description of the problem. Please avoid sending private book content unless it is necessary for support.

6. Purchases and App Stores

If you install or purchase ReadAny through an app store, purchase records, refunds, taxes, billing, and account details are handled by the relevant platform, such as Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive only the information those platforms make available to developers.

7. Children’s Privacy

ReadAny is a general productivity and reading tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support channel, please contact us so we can handle the request appropriately.

8. Your Choices

You can manage your data by deleting books, notes, highlights, sync settings, AI provider settings, or local app data from within the app or through your operating system. You can also disable third-party integrations at any time by removing their configuration.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as ReadAny evolves, including when new cloud, sync, AI, or subscription services become available. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
